Latin / Club Dance

Forte Dance Center is pleased to offer Latin Ballroom to the area! At the beginning of the season, we’ll offer the following styles in 5-week sessions:

Bachata: a style of dance that originated in the Dominican Republic. The basis of this style consists of a three-step with a Cuban hip motion, followed by a tap including a hip movement on the 4th beat.

Salsa: this “fan favorite” of social dance originated in the Caribbean and consists of a partner dance, solo forms such as solo dancing "suelta," and "Rueda de Casino" where multiple couples exchange partners in a circle. Salsa can be improvised or performed with a set routine.

Merengue: this is another style of Dominican dance where partners hold each other in a closed position. The leader holds the follower's waist with the leader's right hand, while holding the follower's right hand with the leader's left hand at the follower's eye level.

Stop in, contact the studio, or register online! Partners and experience are NOT required. You won’t want to miss these fun, upbeat styles which will be a for-sure skill to have in your back pocket for social gatherings, cruises, vacations, clubs, you name it!
